The bee anatomy
by Ezra
The honey bee has 3 main body parts. The 3 main body parts of a bee are called an abdomen, thorax and head.

The head is the smallest part on a bee and there are five eyes on a bee's head. There are two on the side that are called a compound eye and the other eyes are called ocelli, they are as small as a pin head.

The thorax is the second smallest part of a bee. The bee has 4 wings that are connected to the thorax. It has a little wing and a big wing and on the little wing it has some hooks so when it lands, the hooks can hook on to the other wing and they can stay closed until the next flight. On the legs there is lots of hair.  The thorax is the part that is linked to the hip and there are 6 hips because a bee has 6 legs and has a foot at the end of an leg.

The abdomen is the biggest part of the bee and at the end of the abdomen there is a stinger.

There are other interesting body parts too. There is hips, feet, wings, feelers are so important for bees because if the bees' did not have feelers they will not be able to find flowers.
